Acknowlegement

We, at EAML Engineering Company Limited is a specialist manufacture of small-scale hydroelectric power plants, we have installed, replaced and maintained various types of plants for electric power companies, prefectural enterprise bureaus, agricultural cooperative associations, as well as the Chugoku Electric Power Co., Ltd., through which we have accumulated wide experience and technological knowledge. We would like to express our hearty gratitude to them for their support.
Shiro Oda, founder of the company, started working on hydroelectric power as early as 1946 by making the most of his wide experience in his days at the Hiroshima Electric Co., Ltd. (former name of the Chugoku Electric Power Co., Ltd.), and emphasized the importance of electricity for reconstructing the country devastated by the Pacific War.
In those days, Japan was in the height of confusion after the War and everything was in short supply. Food shortage was particularly serious, far worse than we imagine today.
Aiming at constant supply of food, Oda developed a movement of increasing the production of food and promoting farms by installing small-scale hydroelectric power plants on small rivers in agricultural areas, in collaboration with agricultural cooperative associations. He devoted himself to this project and traveled all over the country for over 20 years.
Today environmental disruption is being discussed on a global scale. In this respect, exploitation of waterpower as ‘clean energy’, which does not produce CO2 at all, is becoming much more important.
Tracing Oda’s enthusiastic life and taking his pioneering spirit to heart, as wall as acquiring modern electronics technology, we are starting a bright life for the 21st Century.
