Hydroturbine generator
Hydropower is an investment
for the future, a clean environment and a better world..
In small-scale hydropower, we just borrow the water for a few seconds when it flows through the station.
We don’t harm it, we don’t pollute it.
We just utilize the potential energy and return the water directly to the stream again.
The energy is distributed from the power station as electricity, a clean, compact and instantaneous means of transportation.
Every kWh produced by small scale hydro replaces an equal amount of energy from a polluting source.
Why Submersible?
Submersible hydroturbine generators are standard serially produced units.
The turbine and generator are integrated into a single unit ready to be lowered down into simple compact structures. There are no transmission shafts to align when installing.
Drafttubes, seats, pipes, gates and elbows are prefabricated steel units, ready to be cast into the structure.
The construction is simple and fast; in most cases old structures can be adapted for use with small changes.
In a hydroturbine generator all components in the unit are designed to function together from the beginning. Production and delivery time is short and spare parts are readily available. The unit is efficient and easy to service.
All of these advantages lead to an efficient way to rehab or build and then to run a small-scale power station; both the construction time and the total cast are less.
The submersible concept dramatically minimizes the impact on the environment, especially on the landscape, because most of the structure is placed either in the waterway or underground. In some applications the whole station is hidden, by being placed below the water surface. No more dominating power houses. But don’t pull down old beautiful mills or stations, put the submersibles under them and use the place in them as a museum or for other activities.
Finally the most impact factor; submersible hydro pays!
It is the most cost-efficient small-scale hydro concept!
